Sir David Amess, MP, died 15 October 2021, aged 69. He was stabbed to death in his surgery. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1983, first for Basildon and since 1997 for Southend West. A long-term and vocal Eurosceptic, he supported Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum and has since been a supporter of Leave Means Leave, a pro-Brexit campaign. On 15 October 2021, he was stabbed several times while holding his constituency surgery, and died.
