Francis Anthony Armstrong CBE, peacefully at home on 26th June, 2020, aged 80. Much-loved partner of Caroline, former husband and enduring friend of Penelope, father of Flora, Catriona and Alexander, brother of Felicity, Patrick, Robert, Tom and Jamie, grandfather of Oscar, Barney, Toby, Anna, Edith and Clementine, uncle and friend of multitudes more. He will be especially remembered for his kindness, good humour, diversity of interests and enthusiasm for life. Private cremation, memorial service details to be announced when possible. Donations in Francis' memory can be made to The Musicians Company

(born 26 May 1940) was Director of the Greenwich Foundation for the Royal Naval College, 1997–2002. He is the son of Sir Andrew Carnwath, KCVO, DL and his first wife Kathleen Marianne (née Armstrong). He was appointed a CBE in 1997.
