_. Sir Lyonel Humphry John Tollemache, 7th Baronet [created 1783, of Hanby Hall], JP, DL, died 7 October, 2020. He was 89.

His home was Buckminster Park, Grantham. The surname is pronounced 'Talmash'.

He was born 10 July, 1931, son of Major-General Sir Humphry Tollemache, 6th Baronet, CB, CBE, DL, and of the former Nora Priscilla Taylor [died 1990]; succeeded to the baronetcy on his father's death, 1990; married 1960, Mary Joscelyne Whitbread, daughter of William Henry Whitbread, of the brewing dynasty, by whom he had issue, two sons, and two daughters [one son predeceased him].

Educated at Uppingham School and RMA Sandhurst; and Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. FRICS. Major, Coldstream Guards, retired 1963; Member of Melton and Belvoir Rural District Council, 1969-74; Melton Borough Council 1974-87 [Mayor 1981-82]; Leicestershire County Council, 1985-97; Gov., Royal Star and Garter Home, Richmond, 1985-2001; High Sheriff of Leicestershire, 1978-9; JP 1978; DL 1980, Leics. Sir Lyonel is succeeded in the baronetcy by his only surviving son, Richard John Tollemache, who was born 4 May, 1966.
