He will be very sadly missed. His mother was a shopkeeper, and after her
sudden death he couldn't bear to part with the shops but didn't need the
income. So he started a hospital charity and turned them into charity
shops.

Incidentally there was some doubt about his age. He claimed a 1954 birth,
but had also stated his mother was 17 when she had him, and she was known to
be born in 1935 - so he may have been 68.

He was also the holder of the highest blood sugar reading the local hospital
had ever seen, having been an asymptomatic diabetic for some time. Get
tested folks if you have excess tiredness, thirst, or urination, and no
obvious cause.
